National Museum of American Illustration
www.AmericanIllustration.org
Welcome to the National Museum of American Illustration, where artworks from the ‘Golden Age of American Illustration’ are presented in the ‘Gilded Age’ architectural frame of Vernon Court. Visitors can appreciate the American Imagist Collection as a medley of beautiful pictures, but also as an historical overview of our unique culture. These works are our visual history, indeed they are American civilization illustrated. The original drawings and paintings in the Collection were specifically created for reproduction in books, advertisements, art prints, and periodicals. In the process, illustrators created iconic images, a mythology of our history, and a virtual catalog of bygone styles and desires. We cordially invite you to take The Grand Tour of the Museum.

Naval War College Museum
www.nwc.navy.mil/museum/
The History of the "art and science" of naval warfare, chiefly as studied at the Naval War College through the years, is the principal theme of the Naval War College Museum, which is located in Founders Hall (1820), the original site of the College (1884 - 1889) and a National Historic Landmark. In its broadest application, this encompasses theories and concepts of sea power, international and maritime law, foreign policy formulation, diplomacy, and naval operations. More specifically, the focus is naval power and professional implementation for the achievement of strategic and tactical objectives.
(Due to 9-11 the Newport Naval Station security has been substantially increased, and public access for purposes of visiting the museum is strictly limited to those who have military IDs and those with sponsors having picture IDs. Hopefully, this situation will improve.)

" The Saratoga is at this time still the property of the US Navy, and is not yet open to the public. We have recently taken a major step forward in our efforts to bring the vision of the Air, Land & Sea Heritage and Technology Park to reality with the acquisition of a former adversary - the ex-Soviet cruise missile submarine Juliett 484, which is now open to the public.

We have secured a $1 million pledge through The Galkin Foundation, a local foundation created to support causes that offer significant benefit to the community. The gift from this Rhode Island-based family foundation, a combination of cash, bequest and personal property, is by far the largest contribution made to date to support our efforts. "
